Bees & Honey

In July 2021,  a swarm of bees was found on a tree branch, close to the veg plot and one knowledgable member of the kitchen garden scooped them up and the bee story began at LCKG.  We have LOVED harvesting our first honey and it’s delicious.  We have borrowed and sourced second hand equipment for now but are beginning to make capital investment,  as the popularity of the honey and the interest in the bees has been immense! So this project remains ongoing.

Thanks to Mrs J Gale for donating her bees + hives in 2022. Particular ongoing  thanks to our members John & Sue, Callum & Kelly for taking on the bee responsibilities so brilliantly.
(Approx costs £1,800 for new equipment, hives, spinner etc - e.g suits for children).
