Safeguarding Guidance

  1. LCKG follows the NSPCC 'Learning Safeguarding' guidance for the voluntary and community sector. LCKG is signed up to receive NSPCC updates and LCKG has completed the NSPCC Action Plan survey/audit in Sept 2021. The survey will be reviewed annually to ensure progression.  Ann Craft Trust also offers helpful advice on adult safeguarding should people have concerns.

  2.  LCKG members are reminded of the importance of protecting all but especially children and young/vulnerable adults: preventing and responding to bullying; avoiding accidents and running safe activities and events (see health and safety page); recording and storing information responsibly. GDPR – information is only stored that is required for the practical running of LCKG and individual’s health and safety.

  3. Young people may only attend the garden with their parents/guardians, both members and those visiting. On some specific occasions e.g., event days, LCKG members with DBS certification would be allowed to work directly with children, with the agreement of parents/caters.

  4.  Please don’t post photos or comments of anyone on social media, without their permission, if you do so in error, delete immediately.

  5. For Safeguarding concerns, please contact the person responsible for safeguarding.  (Currently VRR). Should information need to shared with other agencies, the necessary steps will be taken.

  6. Review safeguarding annually or following an incident.
