Safeguarding Guidance
LCKG follows the NSPCC 'Learning Safeguarding' guidance for the voluntary and community sector. LCKG is signed up to receive NSPCC updates and LCKG has completed the NSPCC Action Plan survey/audit in Sept 2021, 2023 and in Jan 2026 (reviewed every 2 yrs). Ann Craft Trust offers helpful advice on adult safeguarding, should people have concerns and need guidance.
LCKG members are reminded of the importance of protecting all but especially children and young/vulnerable adults: preventing and responding to bullying; avoiding accidents and running safe activities and events (see health and safety page); recording and storing information responsibly. GDPR – information is only stored that is required for the practical running of LCKG and individual’s health and safety.
Young people may only attend the garden with their parents/guardians. It is important that everyone feels a sense of responsibility for the wellbeing of young people/children and therefore they must report anything or anyone that you are concerned about. (Safeguarding lead Vanessa Ross Russell 07766 464 229)
Please don’t take/post photos or make comments of anyone at the garden on social media, without their permission. If you do so in error, delete immediately and notify them. Photos of under 18s that have been permitted for use on LCKG’s instagram will have ‘comments turned off’ mode activated.
For Safeguarding concerns, please contact the person responsible for safeguarding. (Currently Vanessa Ross Russell 07766 464229). If your concern involves her please report to another member of the management committee (Jacqui Fruin, Neil Ross Russell, Kelly Sarjeant, Michael Leneghan). Should information need to shared with other agencies, the necessary steps will be taken.
Review safeguarding annually or following an incident.
